Provisional registration

New graduates who meet all other eligibility criteria but are still working towards completing the entry-to-practice exam can apply for provisional registration with CPPEI.

Provisional registrants shall work under the supervision of a general registrant of the same professional level or higher until they meet the examination requirement.

After a provisional registrant successfully completes the entry-to-practice exam for their professional level, the Registrar may grant them the general registrant status.

Provisional registration cannot be reinstated and may be renewed only once.

Application process

To apply for provisional registration:

Set up an account in the online registration system - HMS; select provisional as your registration type
Pay the application fee
After receiving your payment, the Registrar will approve your HMS account - you will receive an email confirmation.
Complete all mandatory information in your profile (complete basic and contact information, complete and sign the legal statement)
Provide the details of your professional currency
Upload the following documents in the appropriate sections of your profile:
- proof of education completion (Education)
- certificate of insurance (Miscellaneous)
- criminal record screening results document (Miscellaneous)
After the Registrar reviews and approves your information and provided documents, you will be prompted to pay the registration fee

After the application steps are completed and your payment processed, you will receive a confirmation of your registration via email. Find your receipts and registration certificate in your HMS account under Payment history.

Remember that as a provisional registrant you are legally allowed to work only under the supervision of a general registrant of the same professional level or higher until you pass the appropriate entry-to-practice exam.

Registration or renewal: completing your application in the online registration system

In your member profile, make sure to fill out all mandatory information that applies to you and submit the required documents. Registration fee payments will not be accepted before the application is complete.

Once your information and documentation are complete, and reviewed and approved by the Registrar, the system will prompt you to pay the applicable registration fee.

Maintaining your professional profile

It is your professional responsibility to keep your College member profile up to date—once registered, you can access your account at any time:

Update your contact information if it changes

Replace expired mandatory documents like certificate of professional liability insurance

Keep track of your professional currency hours

Keep track of your continuing education and competency activities
